At the beginning of the 19th century, Marbella fue un referente industrial cuando se instalaron en el municipio altos hornos. They worked with wood from the saw and were the first civilians furnaces, they were producing more than half of the iron in Spain.

Kilns were established in Marbella to discover a site in Ojén, but also there were the mines of Benalmadena and in Mijas.
